Additive manufacturing training for engineers and operators
Summary
A machine is worth only as much as the people who use it know. I run training for engineers and operators, on your equipment and your parts, from design for additive manufacturing to materials, profiles and procedures.
I do not give generic lectures. Training makes sense only if it is tied to what the company actually does, so the program is built around your parts and your process. Training is charged per day.
Which training I offer
| Training | Who it is for | What people know afterwards |
|---|---|---|
| Design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) | design and development engineers | how to design a part for printing, not just print it |
| Materials | engineers and operators | which material for which requirement and how it is stored |
| Profiles and parameters | operators | how a profile is checked and changed, and why |
| Procedures and quality control | operators and quality control | how to do the same thing every time and when a part is good |
| Technology selection | management and technical leads | when 3D printing makes sense and when it does not |
The framework for design is given by the standard ISO/ASTM 52910. I described practical examples in the articles generative design in practice and how to choose the right material without guessing.
How the training works

First I look at what the company does, which parts, on what equipment and who works with it. On that basis I build a program for that group of people. The training is held on your equipment and your parts, and afterwards the company keeps the procedures its people work by.
Why people's knowledge matters more than the machine, I described in the article the human factor in additive manufacturing. When training comes with the introduction of a new process, it is part of the process implementation and qualification service.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the training held?
Most often at your site, on your equipment and your parts. That way people learn on what they work with every day.
Who is the training for?
For design engineers, development engineers, operators, quality control and technical leads. The content is adapted to the group.
Does the training depend on the equipment manufacturer?
No. The training is held on the equipment the company has, regardless of the manufacturer.
What is DfAM?
Design for additive manufacturing. It means that a part is designed from the start to take advantage of 3D printing, instead of simply printing a part that was designed for another technology.
What stays in the company after the training?
The procedures people work by, adapted to your parts and your equipment.
How is it priced?
Per day. The number of days depends on the number of people and on which trainings are needed, and it is agreed before the start.

Do you need training for your team?
Describe who works with 3D printing and on what through the production analysis. If you need a tool rather than training, see custom software. For the other services, see the consulting page.
