Custom software for additive manufacturing
Summary
Off-the-shelf software covers what is common to everyone. When your workflow has a step that nobody covers, or that is done manually and slowly, I build a tool for exactly that step.
I have been programming since I was twelve, and I built some of the tools I use in my work myself, such as the free SLM DFAM Checker. Software is charged per project.
Examples
| Tool | What it solves | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Digital spare parts warehouse | spare parts are kept as verified files with parameters, not on a shelf | service for clients |
| SLM DFAM Checker | checking the geometry of a metal part before printing | public and free on this site |
| Automatic hollowing for SLA | hollowing with honeycomb, orientation and supports only where needed | internal tool |
Digital spare parts warehouse. Instead of keeping spare parts on a shelf, they are stored as verified files with parameters and printed when needed. The tool keeps a record of the parts and handles print preparation. How much 3D printing shortens the wait for a spare part can be seen in the IGM Mladost example in the case studies.
SLM DFAM Checker. A free check of a metal part's geometry before printing, publicly available on this site.
Automatic hollowing for SLA. An internal tool that hollows a model with an internal honeycomb structure, orients it and adds supports only where needed. A very complex model is ready for printing in about 30 seconds.
How a tool is made

I start from one specific problem, a step that goes slowly or is done manually. First we write down together what the tool does and what it does not. Then I build a first version on your data, we test it on your parts and I correct it. In the end you get the tool, instructions and trained people.
Which software already makes a difference in additive manufacturing, I described in the article software that makes a difference in additive manufacturing. Where artificial intelligence really helps and where it does not, I covered in the article AI in 3D printing, where it really helps and where it does not.
Frequently asked questions
When does custom software make sense?
When your workflow has a step that off-the-shelf software does not cover, or that is done manually and takes a lot of time. If there is a ready-made tool that does it well, that is also my recommendation.
What is a digital spare parts warehouse?
A record of spare parts kept as verified files with parameters instead of on a shelf. A part is printed when it is needed, so there is no waiting and no stock.
Does custom software work with equipment from any manufacturer?
Yes. The tool is built for your workflow, not for one manufacturer.
Is the SLM DFAM Checker free?
Yes. The SLM DFAM Checker is a free check of a metal part's geometry before printing.
What do I get in the end?
A tool that works on your data, instructions and people who know how to use it.
How is it priced?
Per project. The amount depends on the scope of the tool and is agreed before the start.

Do you have a step that takes too long?
Describe it through the production analysis. If you need your people trained, see training. For the other services, see the consulting page.
