Independent equipment and supplier evaluation for additive manufacturing
Summary
You have decided to invest in additive manufacturing and you have a budget, maybe you are even in a tender process, but you face many offers from different manufacturers, or still need to request them, and you are not sure which machine really fits your needs. Every seller praises their own equipment, so it is hard to get objective advice.
I start from your real technical requirements, materials, tolerances and production volume, and on that basis I compare the offers you have or that you still need to request. I do not sell equipment, so my recommendation depends only on what you really need.
Costs that are not visible in the machine price
I pay special attention to costs that are often missing from the base machine price, such as additional chambers, powder handling stations, training and warranty, which can raise the total investment by 30 to as much as 100 percent.

| Item | Why it gets overlooked |
|---|---|
| Additional chambers and modules | the offer often contains only the base configuration |
| Powder handling stations | essential for powder technologies, but listed as a separate item |
| Post processing | support removal, cleaning, heat treatment, surface finishing |
| Training | the people running the process must know it, and the training included in the price is often short |
| Warranty and service | after the first year, service becomes a regular cost |
| Space and installations | ventilation, electricity, gas, air conditioning, safety |
How I choose a solution
I start from what you want to produce, the quality you need and the quantity you want to produce. On that basis I recommend a solution that fits your real needs, the right machine, material, software, post processing and all the other elements of the process needed for production to work reliably in practice. I do not recommend more than you need, but also not less than is necessary for the result you want.
Where needed, I also help with negotiations or preparing tender documentation. What a choice not tied to a single manufacturer looks like, I described in the article what vendor neutral means in machine selection. An example of comparing powder technologies is the article SLS, MJF and SAF comparison.
How long it takes
For one or two offers, the evaluation is faster and focused. For larger purchases with multiple suppliers and formal tender documentation, the engagement is more comprehensive. Pricing is a fixed price per project.
Who this service is for
This service is for you if you have already decided to invest and are choosing a specific solution. If you are only considering whether AM makes sense for your product, the cost assessment will help you more. Once the equipment arrives, the next step is process implementation and qualification.
Frequently asked questions
How much can costs beyond the base price raise the investment?
In my experience, additional chambers, powder handling stations, training and warranty can raise the total investment by 30 to as much as 100 percent compared with the base machine price.
Do you help with tender documentation?
Yes. I help write the technical requirements so that they describe what you need rather than one specific machine, and so that offers are compared by the same criteria.
Can you find suppliers if we have no offers?
Yes. Based on your requirements, I suggest which technologies and manufacturers make sense to ask for an offer.
Do you recommend 3D Republika equipment?
I recommend what fits your requirements. I hold equity in 3D Republika, but I do not take part in sales, and when another supplier's equipment is better for you, that is also my recommendation.
Do you also help with negotiations?
Where needed, yes, when it is important to compare terms, delivery times, training and service, not just price.
How is it priced?
As a fixed price per project. The amount depends on the number of offers and on whether tender documentation is needed.
